A 51 years old man with type 2 diabetes and previous history of CHD present at annual review. currently he is taking metformin 500 mg BD,aspirin 75 mg OD,perindopril 4 mg OD and simvastatin 20 mg OD.his BP is 140/70 mmHg,he has background diabetic retinopathy and peripheral sensory neuropathy. Investigations reveal:

Total cholesterol 3.9
Triglyceride 2.5
HDL-cholesterol 0.8
LDL-cholesterol 2.1
